CNET Editors' Review

The good: Records/plays video at a respectable quality (with optional module); records MP3s from a microphone or an analog/digital source; stores images from a digital camera or with its own camera module; 20GB capacity; USB 2.0 connection.

The bad: Small screen; short battery life when using maximum capabilities; video-recording module and remote sold separately.

The bottom line: This model delivers on the recording promise of its predecessor, the Multimedia 20, but the newer AV320 offers a much larger screen.

Review: Archos delivers on the promise of last year's revolutionary Multimedia 20, adding the ability to record video from a television to the earlier model's already heady mix of portable audiovisual capabilities. However, with the imminent release of the more attractive AV340, it's hard to recommend this player, which has last year's design. The Video AV120's rugged design is nearly identical to that of last year's Multimedia 20, which looked pretty good at the time. But it's boxier than some of the PVPs (personal video players) slated for release this year--including Archos's own AV340. At 4.3 by 3.1 by 1.1 inches and 10.2 ounces, the AV120's size and weight exceed those of most dedicated MP3 players, but that's not surprising, considering its stronger feature set.

"Awsome product, not like what many say. My full review" By alphaecho4386

Pros: Color screen, 20gigs, affordable, VIDEO RECORDING! Definatley for the Tech Savvy

Cons: Battery life can be short, bit bulky, no searching function (browsing through genre, album, artist like iPod)

Summary: This is a great product well ahead of its time. First off this is not an iPod so dont knock it because it dosent do what the iPod does. Many people complain about its size, file system, etc. but this realy cant be compared to other stand alone mp3 players. ... Expand full review
