"Wonderful player!"
Pros: WMA, WAV, MP3 support. Compatable with playsforsure and Napster To Go, small and light, affordable, looks awesome
Cons: lack of 3rd party support,
Summary: Just bought the 2nd generation Dell DJ and I am impressed. Right away I noticed how small it is, With the thickness and width identical to a deck of playing cards, the DJ is 1.5 cm longer than the deck. The backlit buttons and screen are fantastic, they look great in the dark.
Navigation is simple and easy, and the scroll barrel makes searching for songs simple.
I use Windows Media Player so the ipod was out of the question because the ipod does not play .WMA files and I was not prepared to sacrifice audio quality to convert them to Apple's .ACC format. Transfer was quick and easy through Window's Media Player's "sync" function. The DJ also shows up in "my computer" as a portable hard drive, and can be used with Napster's subscription program.
Sound quality is excellent, even with Dell's poor earbuds they include, I suggest buying a premium pair of headphones.
The DJ feels solid in your hand and is easily pocketable.
The best part of the DJ is the cost, I bought a 30 gig player with 2 year warranty, plus a dock and a case for less than the cost of a 20 gig ipod with nothing included.
The Dell DJ is an excellent alternative to the ipod and is superior in many ways.
