Pros: Cheap
Cons: After 13 months, it started to overheat, the fan stays on CONSTANTLY and then starts to become SLOWWWWW and aggravating. Sometimes it completely shuts down. One should spend more money on something reliable. I WILL NEVER BUY DELL AGAIN, UNLESS I WANT T

I had one of these for 2.5 years before upgrading to a Compaq r4000 and giving the dell to my mother. The best solution I found is to take the laptop apart, and manually remove the dust from the cooling fan assembly. When put back together, it ran flawlessly and much cooler.

i hav this computer. and i gotta tell ya its not the best note book ive seen but then again i only have 256 mbs of RAM. im about to upgrade to one gig of ram so other than me buying the cheapest version i ave no problems with it.

I've had mine for 24 months and found it reliable, yes it was cheaper than many, hot, but so are others, does have long battery life, good picture quality. To give it a two just because he didn't give it "space" where it sits is a bit harsh, I think.

The same thing started happening to my computer about 6 months ago...then the power adapter went out, then the motherboard went out and Dell wants me to pay the price of a brand new (and better) computer just to have a new motherboard installed. Yeah right! Will never buy a Dell again!

Same thing with mine, except mine lasted approx ~20 months. Getting a Compaq to replace it. I will never buy from Dell again.

I had the same problem. I used to be a laptop technician and I've never seen the kind of problems this thing has. Save yourself the pain and expense in the long-term, buy anything but a Dell.
