"Durable and Versatile Workhorse"
Pros: amazing battery life, built in microphone, very durable.
Cons: thicker than the d620, standard screen is low res, runs hot.
Summary: The latitude d520 is a great laptop. I purchased it with the dual battery configuration and get approximately 8 hours (I did type eight) of battery life per charge. The machine is blazing fast with the 1.66 Intel core duo (dual core) processor, and 1gb of high speed ddr2 memory. I also love the built in microphone - It picks up voice very clearly and makes the laptop wonderful as a portable voice over IP unit (with technology like skype, google talk, etc). The keyboard is a pleasure to type on (I'm using it now. It has just the right amount of tactile feedback. the build quality of the unit is stelar. It feels solid all around and is reinforced with magnesium to protect against the elements. the hard drive casing sports "strikezone" protection which is Dell's proprietary shock absorbing techology to keep your data safer. The built-in speakers are very loud, but aren't exactly music quality and get a bit tinny at the highest volume settings. At a starting price of around $700'ish, this laptop blows away the competition and will provide you years of fast performace, reliable quality, and stellar usability! I love it! Only con is it seems to run hotter than average. ( i believe this has to do with the core duo processor more than it has to do with the laptop.

All warranty, service, tech. support is provided by Dell's business division, which is much better than Dell's home division, and you are less likely to reach a tech. in India!
