Pros: People who have seen me using it think it's a toy. But it's a real computer, and works like one too. I adore the portability this laptop offers.
Cons: Gets hot, fast. The battery life is awful. I barely get 2 hours out of the premium settings. The screen, at first, was great, but there's a design flaw where you will get a scratch about 1/3 of the way down the screen. I'm on my third screen. I carry the

"Nice road-warior, if you get the enhanced battery"
Pros: Good build quality, good keyboard and very good connections (GigE on new models). Get the mediabase if you need serial/parallel, it's still quite portable. Runs Linux fine, if you know how to compile a kernel yourself. Use it for wireless surveys/wardrivi
Cons: The standard battery lasts for 2 hours on my 1.4 Ghz model, you really should get the enhanced battery. I guess that's the only reason to buy an IBM X40.

"promising, but disappointing"
Pros: lightweight, fast, keyboard touch, docking/undocking capability, media base
