"Great upgrade, worth the $$$"
Pros: Blazing speed, quiet, & classy look, easy set-up
Cons: A little bulky, too much crap pre-installed, & the Dell staple of charging you for any upgrade no matter how minor
Summary: Bought this PC because my last Dell (Dimension 4700 c) went down soon after the warranty expired. Never had any problem with my previous Dell so I decided to give them one more try. I've had the PC for about a month and love it. Super fast and very quiet. I pretty much upgraded everything to the middle of the line options they offer including the 19" ultra sharp monitor, 6800 ATI GPC, 2 GB memory, 250 MB hard drive and 5.1 speakers, whole thing cost about $2400 after all was said and done. My only real complaint is that I did order the duel T.V. tuner and the PC only came with one installed, not the end of the world as they sent a techie out to remedy the problem soon after I called. Also, there is the seemingly endless crap-ola programs that dell factory installs when you order the P.C. that you have to spent 4 hours of erasing after you set it up. I had read from other reviews the same complaint and it is definetly valid. Minor complains though in my opinion compared to the positive performance of this unit. One other note: As I stated in the beginning of the review, our last PC went down and the cpu fan kicked the bucket. It was impossible to find a replacement fan as Dell stopped making the 4700 c 2 years ago. We decided we really did not need the 2,3, or 4 year warranty and it came around full circle on us. Had it still been under warranty they would of had to make it right. So, this time I made sure to get the 3 year solution plus warranty package. Just word to the wise, if you're shelling out $2000 plus dollars, don't cheat yourself out of a moderate home investment by not fully protecting it.
