"Great All Around Notebook"
Pros: Easy to use, compact, widescreen, excellent Dell support.
Cons: Shared memory on board memory. Gets pretty warm in your lap. Heavier than I thought it would be but not to bad.
Summary: I have had my new Dell XPS M140 for about a week and I love it! I use this for everything from web browsing to recording TV and creating web sites. I am not a big gamer so the graphics card has not been an issue. If you are a serious gamer or graphics editor I could see the on board shared memory video being a concern. One thing I have disliked is the lack of software that came from Dell. Everything is a "trial version". The ergonomics are set up nicely and the keyboard feels better than any Dell notebook I have ever owned. If you own any Bluetooth devices I would highly recommend the Bluetooth upgrade. I love being able to sit on the couch at night and being able to sync my cell or surf the web with my wireless Bluetooth mouse. The display is crystal clear and bright. I don't agree with cnet's opinion of the speakers. I think they sound great but then again I am not an audio specialist. The XPS M140 is very stylish and wont disappoint. I highly recommend this notebook for anyone looking for a compact, stylish, easy to use, all around, performance notebook. Dell you have done it again!

I noticed on your review you said bought the optional TV Tuner. After having the computer for a while, do you still enjoy and use the this function? Do you experience any problems with the TV Tuner due to the shared video memory? With all of the additional features that you added how much more than the advertised ~5.5 lbs does the laptop weigh? I am in the process of buying this computer but am debating over adding the TV Tuner. Any input about adding this option would be helpful. Sorry for so many questions. Thanks!

I agree that the keyboard feels great - not sure why that is, but it's definitely noticable. I also agree that the speakers sound better than any speakers I've heard on budget laptops - but I too am not an expert.

What about the noise factor. Is it noisy?

You are correct about the excellent keyboard feel, however, the mouse buttons feels very flimsy. The mouse buttons are much better on the Inspiron 6000 and on the M170, but the M140 buttons feels loose, and you have to push it 3 times deeper than other Dell laptops, and it sometimes feels than it is falling apart.
The main concerns about thesae laptop are the lack of a good graphics card, and dual-core processor. Also, no mic (although you can insert one via line-in); and the media buttons on the front is not steady illuminated, only for about 2 seconds. There should be an option to extend the time of the lights.
