"Great Laptop for a Great Price"
Pros: Price, Brushed Aluminum Palm Rest, Media Card Reader, Free Upgrade to Windows Vista, Nice Widescreen
Cons: Speakers Directed Downward, Mouse Buttons Click Very Loudly, Headphone and Microphone Jacks Located on the Front
Summary: I was attracted to this laptop mostly because of how sleek it looked and its price. While this system is not for gamers because of its lack of hardware T&L support, it is great for the student who wants to listen to music, watch DVDs, and write papers. Also, Gateway realized that people do drop their laptops and have reinforced the corners with the very nice brushed aluminum used for the palm rest.
Right now for $699 and free shipping (I also got $50 off for a 2-day promotion) you get a great laptop with a very nice price, and a free upgrade to Windows Vista. I added a 3-year warranty, an Ultrabright screen, and a DVD burner and my price was still under $1000.
This laptop is much more aesthetically pleasing than its Dell equivalent, which has a gawdy, toy-plastic look.
The only thing I really don't like about this laptop is that the speakers are on the bottom front wedge, which means they play the music into your desk, or, if you actually have the laptop on your lap, your loins. While I'm sure my loins appreciate it, I would like to have speakes that play music at me and not into me.
