I can now say I defenitely got what I paid for. While I was even considering shelling out the bucks for an Alien, I think prudence prevailed on this purchase decision.
Ya need a high performance PC? Can't get any better than this unless you have a driven desire to spend money...lol. I will say one thing if you do spend more for another more expensive system I'm not gonna be eatin much (if any) dust....LOLUpdated
The beep you keep referring to can easily be turned off in the media settings.Updated
The media controls audible feedback can be turned off in settings or disable system speaker.

Which program did you end up selecting? Microsoft Money, Office..? Or can you not select anything at all? (that's not possible right?)
Can you only get it customized from the United States HP website? -
Can the screen be tilted back the full 180 degrees?

I thought of a few more things I was curious about. My main concerns are with video of course... does this have the hookups I would need for video production? (i.e. firewire ports) and how is the sound quality? I've read that alot of these laptops have issues with poor sound production and I will be doing music and sound editing on here as well. Is the sound card a decent card like an Audigy or similar? I tried to figure that out on HP's site but it wasn't very clear.
Thanks for any help you can give me. -
Just curious, I've been looking at Dell XPS, Alienware and even Sony Vaio laptops and hadn't thought of HP until I saw this and your review. Do you think this could handle video editing? I need to be able to do editing on the fly and I need a system I can dump HD footage to. Just wondering if you think this could handle that.

Which Battery did you select in your online configuration?
How do you find the battery life, how many hours does it last? -
Is there a slot in the side of the laptop to put in the laptop's remote control?
-
So how fast does it take to fully login to your user?

I'm you're going to play games such as Doom 3, why didn't you go for the 256 MB graphics card which is very capable of running such games.

Your configuration is pretty much the same version that I want to get. Please give us a good review when it arrives! One thing I'm wondering about is the resolution. I've heard that the 1440 x 900 could be a bit finer... What do you think of it? Is it fine? And hows the overall speed of the laptop? Also, if you are going to play any games on it, please tell me how they play.
Thanks, hopefully it will turn out to be a fantastic laptop.
