"Great while it lasted."
Pros: Screen, key board, upgradeability,
Cons: Weight, case flexibility, battery life
Summary: This laptop was great while it lasted. I purchased it factory refurbished in 2006. It arrived with a non-functioning Think Light. After about 8 months the USB ports stopped working, then shortly after that the Blue Tooth failed. A piece of metal fell out of the PC card slot and a chunk of plastic broke free of the screen bevel on the bottom left side, although to be fare neither of these seem to have had any impact performance. Lately, the optical drive has been acting up. Sometimes it won't play cds/dvds.
There are some positive aspects to this laptop. The UXGA screen with wide angle viewing is fantastic and the key board is top notch. Everyday I cross my fingers that it will turn on so I can enjoy those to two features.
That might be a little harsh. If I had bought it new in 2002 when it came out I'd feel pretty good about my choice (assuming it gave me 5 years of trouble free use).
So, I guess the take away here is don't by a 5 year old refurbished laptop, even if all the out-dated reviews are great the manufacture has one of the best reputations around.
