"I feel like someone transported me back to 1991"
Pros: It has a keyboard??
Cons: I have many many headaches
Summary: Wow what can I say.... I've had countless migraines because of this piece of CRAP.
First of all, I've used HP, Dell, Gateway, and several other brands. Due to a recent job, Lenovo's X41 has now entered into my life.
1. Why is there no finger mousepad?? There's plenty of space on the case to have that option. Who really thinks the little read bumb between the G and the H keys is sufficient??
2. The model I have comes with a 1.5GHz Pentium M processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 40GB hard drive. The tablet functionality eats up about HALF of the 20GB harddrive for all the junk software it requires, so good luck with that.
3. SLOWER THAN SOUTHERNERS SPEAK!!! This 512 of RAM is completely insufficient for this laptop. All I have open right now is MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook, and it's literally taking me 5 minutes to switch between applications. The stranger thing is, this laptop only has one slot for RAM, yet has capability to go up to 1.5GB RAM. Good luck finding a 1.5GB stick that is under 600 bucks. It takes me 10 minutes to start, 15 to shut down, and 5 to switch between simple applications.
4. Mysteriously, the USB ports work when they feel like it.
5. Customer Service - I called Toshiba about all the other issues I was having, we ran some tests, and the hardware reported no errors. So, IBM couldn't do anything for me and I'm stuck with this slow piece of crap.
........... I just ordered a 1GB stick of RAM, so if that helps I'll update this review... until then, STAY AWAY FROM IBM TABLET FUNCTIONALITY. It'll eat your hd, your RAM, and cause many many migraines!
