Publisher's description of Microsoft Expression Web
Microsoft Expression Web gives you all the tools you'll need to produce high-quality, standards-based Web sites the way you want them. Create CSS-based, XHTML 1.0 Transitional-conforming Web sites by default, and work better across browsers, simplifying deployment and maintenance. Design high-quality Web sites and applications with a state-of-the-art, professional toolset and design surface that combines power with ease of use, allowing direct manipulation of margins and padding throughout the document.
Build and format views on industry-standard XML data using powerful, WYSIWYG XSLT design tools. Create views efficiently with drag/drop from the Data View task pane and construct complex XPath queries and compound fields with the XPath Expression builder. Take full advantage of the power of ASP.NET 2.0 with integrated support for server and user controls, and no code data binding, to transform your sites into dynamic, interactive Web applications.
Note: The Download Now link will redirect you to the publisher's site where you'll have to register to be able to download the program. The trial is a fully functioning version of the product that will expire 60 days from installation.

Version: Microsoft Expression Web 1
"READ THE SITE CNET EDITORS - It says Free TRIAL."
Pros: Nothing unless you want to PAY for it.
Cons: There's NOTHING "free" about this software. This is another Microsoft PAYWARE product.

Version: Microsoft Expression Web 1
Pros: Have nice CSS support and real time HTML edition fonctionnality.
Works with .NET 2.0 and master pages and custom control, also render user control.
Cons: Not free, should change the description to Trial. After 60 days it does expired.
This program also have serious bug such as not been able to edit text section inside a table if not p tag exist or stuff like this.

Version: Microsoft Expression Web 1
Pros: Ignore the haters -- this is a nice app. I particularly like the ease with which I can create and edit styles. I haven't noticed any bugs, nor does it run slowly on my computer (which has Windows XP, not Vista).
If you use Frontpage, you'll definitely want to upgrade to this. I dragged my feet, not wanting to learn a whole new program, but (a) it was easy to learn & (b) it was worth it. The includes function seems to be gone, but it's still supported. Grab the code from an old Frontpage project and paste it in (edit as needed, of course). I've read that the next version of Expression will fix the omission.
I haven't used Dreamweaver in a while so I can't compare to that. As an intermediate webmaster, though, Expression is great for my needs.
BTW, if it's categorized as "free" rather than "free trial," that's CNET's fault, not Microsoft's.
Cons: There are a few nitpicky things I dislike, but it's minor stuff.

"Bad bloted and complex Software"
Cons: 196meg plus another 120meg for .net to be installed. Bad bloted and complex Software let the big companies use it who have been sucked into it, with the MicroSoft brand name. You need to pay fresh uni-students a $100,000 to use.
Slow and sugglish on my Pentium 4, Made for Bloted Vista with a High powered system.
