Nokia 6256i (Verizon Wireless)

Summary: I've had this phone for a couple of weeks now. I'm gonna list what in my opinion makes this phone great, and also the things that Nokia could improve on to make this phone even better.

Beginning with the positives...

This is currently the only phone that is not bluetooth-crippled by Verizon. Thus, the full-bluetooth capabilities allow file transfers to your computer without the need of paying Verizon money to send your pics/vids. The phone also has IR to allow file transfers as well.

The phone's memory could be expanded with an MMC memory card. This card is similar to a normal-sized SD card, so it is cheaper and not as fragile as the mini-SD and tiny transflash cards other phones are using for memory expansion.

The speakerphone is loud and clear enough. It may get a bit distorted at the highest volume but it's not a big problem.

A few extras are included in the phone such as a Language Translator and a Units Converter.

You can play MP3's on the phone which could be loaded on the MMC memory card.

The phone also has FM Radio but a speacial headset is required. If you search online you will find an OEM Nokia headset that works for under $15.

The vga camera takes decent pictures.

Call quality is great and I haven't had any dropped calls.



Ok, now for the negatives/areas of improvement....

In my opinion the number-pad is inferior to the ones found on other phones such as Motorola and LG. It is FLAT and that round menu button may be difficult to press depending on your finger size.

The internal display is very unimpressive. My previous phones have been Sony Ericsson T616, Motorola V551, and Motorola E815; they are all far superior in display quality and brightness than this Nokia 6256i.

MP3 files loaded on to the MMC memory card cannot be asigned as your ringtone. Verizon had to cripple SOME features and this is one of them. However, if your read around the Howard forums you will find a 'fix' to this problem.

Last but not least... in my opinion this phone is bulky and a bit ugly.
