"WOW!!! WHAT A DEAL!!!"
Pros: Fantastic sound, great features, easy to install, digital and optical input, PHENOMENAL BASS
Cons: For the price I see no cons!!!
Summary: I was in the market for a budget HTIB. I was honestly expecting less than adequate sound for the price I was willing to pay. What I wanted was something to enjoy dvd concerts, and the occasional movie. I had gone into the process thinking that anything would be better than nothing. I plan on making a more serious home theater system in the next three years, for the time being I was not willing to spend more than 200.00. How's that for a tight budget!!!?? I did some preliminary research before going to the stores to listen. I had pretty much decided that I was going to buy the Sony HT-DDW670 if it sounded even half way decent. I do however, always listen to everything at the store/stores that are around my price point. The day I bought this I only went to one store. I went to Frys electronics in Plano, TX. I listened to the Sony, which sounded decent and looked decent. I listened to a Yamaha, which sounded a little less decent, but looked good(it was 100.00 more). I finally listened to the Onkyo. I couldn't walk away. It sounded great in a very big store. It had all kinds of features that the Sony didn't have. It looked great, better than tan the Sony. THE PRICE WAS 199.00. I bought it without blinking an eye. I brought it home and installed it in about 30 min. The wires included with it are all color coded and more than adequate for this system. The room it is in is a square room, roughly 17x17. My bed rests against a wall. The woofer sits on the floor about 16 ft away. When my head is resting against the back wall, my head vibrates....substanitally (with a lot more volume left)!! The center and front speakers produce clear sounds with crisp tweeters and full mids. The reciever is attractive with better than average features. What an AMAZING value, from a reputable manufacturer. I feel like they had this system mis-priced. There is just no way I got this much system for 199.00. If your looking for a HTIB for cheap, I highly recommend this ONKYO!!! I can't figure out why CNET rated this as Good. They scored the sound an 8, for the money it's a 10. Design 9, and features 9.
