"Amazing Monitor"
Pros: Picture quality, colors jump out at you!
Cons: Need to purchace add'l video card to use as TV
Summary: After many months of research, both on the web and in person at several stores, it became clear my choice was narrowed between this and the Panasonic TH-42PHD8UK. It seemed both plasma's were extremely similiar and since the Panasonic was on National Backorder I decided to give the Pioneer a try. Boy, am I glad I did.
This TV is even better than I had hoped for. The blacks are deep and the colors jump off the screen at you. There is no blur whatsoever, even with rapid motion movies/sporting events. It offers many viewing options, including zoom and wide screen. Can be adjusted to reproduce all of today's signal types 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Regular TV is somewhat improved from my last set, but the HD programming is really impressive. The dark levels are excellent, you can see the smallest of details in shadows. I watch Sin City on it and the details were amazing, things I didn't even notice the first time I watch the movie (on a different set).
This is a true industrial monitor, so the features are limited. You have to add a customizable video card to get any picture as there is no tuner. And you must have a seperate sound system or buy optional speaker for this model. It does come with speaker outputs. But, if picture quality is what's most important to you (what's more important?) then I highly recommend this monitor.
I couldn't be happier with this purchase, I haven't seen a plasma that can compare with it's picture quality.
