"OK for entry level SACD/DVD-A Player"

    on January 18, 2005

Pros: Plays SACD and DVD-A Nice looking player. Good price.

Cons: unconversion is just ok but The player is not good with black/dark scenes (I have a Sony KE-37XS910). For the price you cant beat the list of features. I sold it and got a Denon 2910 and i am very happy.

"STAY AWAY FROM THIS - here's why..."

    on January 13, 2005

Pros: None - this is the worst dvd player I ever saw

Cons: I bought this because of the DVI output and features - and i figured that samsung was a good brand... WAS I EVER WRONG! After hooking it all up all I got was a snowy picture - I bypassed the problem by hooking up composite cables then switching to DVI - t

    "Buy this unit"

    on January 12, 2005

Pros: This unit upconverts DVDs (which are currently all produced 480p) into 1080p format when using your DVI connection. The picture difference is incredible. It changes the regular DVD quality - which is good - to full HD-quality, which is unbelieveable. For

Cons: The Circuit City salesperson gave me the heads-up on the setup quirk so it went smoothly. However, I can see people getting frustrated with getting it set up. Second grip is not having a 5-disc changer built in.

    "Great bang for the buck!!!"

    on January 12, 2005

Pros: I liked the way the picture looked when compared to the DVD players that were in a much higher price range it held it's weight. I find it makes the way for very nice picture quality and sounds good too.

Cons: Very difficult to set up initially with the DVI setup. The instructions were not clear.

    "DVI as good as HDTV"

    on January 12, 2005

Pros: Output on 1280x720 LCD display w/DVI @ 720p appears to be as good as HDTV, noticeably sharper than component output (limited to 480p). I like that I can blow up 4:3 DVDs with letterboxed 16:9 content to full 16:9 widescreen in proper aspect ratio, still s

Cons: People who had trouble configuring DVI apparently failed to read the full page color "DVI Setup Guide". But it is even easier to connect component cables, switch player from Component-I to Component-P/DVI, and then connect DVI. Not mentioned in manual is
