Score Store and Protect Kit for PSP

overview
Product Summary

The good: The travel case, which is the centerpiece of the kit, is the attractively styled and has room to store four PSP games and two Memory Stick Duo cards. We also like the integrated Velcro strap and carabiner for belt-holstering options.

The bad: The travel case doesn't convert into an easel to prop up your PSP while watching movies.

The bottom line: Score's Store and Protect Kit for the Sony PSP doesn't cost much and is definitely an upgrade over the neoprene case that's included with the PSP.

Like other newfangled accessory-kit options for the PSP, the Score Store and Protect Kit for PSP combines not just one but multiple accessories in a blister pack. The centerpiece of this inexpensive kit ($10.99) is the attractively styled dark-blue travel case, which replaces the cheap, neoprene case that ships with the PSP. It not only protects your PSP--its shell includes a layer of hard foam--but leaves room inside for four PSP games and two Memory Stick Duo cards. We also like that the integrated Velcro strap and carabiner for your choice of belt-holstering options.

On its own, the travel case would be a pretty decent value, but Score throws in a smaller, matching game case that holds as many as five games or UMD movies, as well as a Duo-View case, which is essentially the equivalent of a dual CD-type case (read: hard plastic with a translucent window) for two UMD discs. These bonus accessories offer more dubious value, because ideally you want to go with one case that both protects your PSP and stores a few games. However, those who want to transport more than four games might find the game case useful, though due to its small size, it seems as if it would be easy to lose.

Unlike Logitech's Playgear Pocket, you probably won't leave your PSP in the travel case when you're playing a game. The Logitech case doesn't offer the game storage that the Score travel case does, but it does offer an ergonomic advantage, and you can prop it up like an easel when watching movies on your PSP.

Bottom line: If you're looking for an inexpensive and good-looking case that protects your PSP while storing few games and memory cards, the Score Store and Protect Kit for PSP is a fine option. We have no problem recommending it.
