This utility can do much more than just turn your PC off at a specified time. Sleepy enables you to control when your children (or employees) are allowed to use a computer. For example, you can set your kids' PC to turn off at 8 p.m. on school nights and at 10 p.m. on Saturdays. The program runs in the background and doesn't take much memory. The interface includes a basic and advanced mode, with general program settings available in the advanced mode. You can schedule actions for any day of the week or a particular block of days, such as weekends, from a drop-down list. The program also features the Sleepy screen saver which hows your favorite screen saver, then shuts down or logs off if the PC remains unused.
However, Sleepy doesn't make it easy to schedule actions for irregular sequences of days, such as a Monday-Wednesday-Friday block. Instead, you have to schedule separate actions for each of those days. We would like to see a more flexible method of setting a schedule. While parents are the main market for Sleepy, small businesses and school computer labs also might benefit.

Version: Sleepy 6.2
"Sleepy turns off my kids computer and helps me get them to bed."
Pros: Sleepy makes my being a (step) parent easier. My kids can't argue or bargain or pout at Sleepy like they do to me. At bedtime Sleepy gives them a one minute warning, and then shuts down their computer--with no fuss and no hassles. Previously my wife and I fought and bargained and begged with the kids to get off the computer and go to bed, but now they submit to Sleepy, because Sleepy can't be bargained with. Within 3 days of installing Sleepy our kids are finally going to bed on time. We have used Sleepy for about 3 years now, and have had no problems with it. Sleepy performs a standard Windows shutdown without any problems. I found Sleepy easy to configure as well.

Version: Sleepy 6.2
"It works and at $14.95 it'd a bargain!"
Pros: All of the auto shutdown programs that I've used in the past were freeware. No disparity to freeware (I have about 6GB of freeware!); sometimes it's worth while paying for a program. Sleepy 6.2 is a definite bargain at $14.95!
My children are adults, so computer security is not an issue; a clean shutdown is an issue. I'm running Windows ME OS which has shutdown issues similar to Windows 98 Second Edition with the shutdown patches.
Sleepy 6.2 reliably shuts down ME and 98SE and 98 First Edition.
A real bargain at $14.95!
Cons: Irregular scheduling is a bit of a hassle; not a worthwhile issue to consider.
