Quick Take: The Sony DAV-LF1H is the flagship model in company's 2006 home-theater-in-a-box DVD Dream System line. Its included 5.1-speaker system is flat-panel-friendly; that is, its slim design complements the look and feel of flat-panel LCD and plasma TVs. Additionally, the rear speakers of the system can be connected either with or without wires, and the DAV-LF1H has an automatic speaker-setup program and a microphone to assist with proper speaker placement and optimizing sound quality. The vertical head unit houses the top-loading single-disc DVD/CD/SACD player, which includes an HDMI output capable of upconverting DVDs to 1080i or 720p. The Sony DAV-LF1H ($2,000 list) will be available in July.
