"Best Picture and Kid friendly too"
Pros: Quality Picture
Cons: Size limited to 36 inches
Summary: I researched plasma and LCD sets for a year (Rear projection never worked for me due to the picture quality slightly changing when moving off axis). The LCD sets were gorgeous up to the 32 inch size, but after that, I could see some of the "screen door" effect on the larger sizes. The Plasmas were amazing to look at and well priced, but with 3 young daughters, I could see them buring in the entire screen within a week. Yes, I knew there were techniques the Plasma's can employ to reduce burn in, but the bottom line was, my kids would find a way to ruin the Plasma. So with the LCD larger size picture not wowing me really, and the Plasma looking so wonderful but appearing so fragile, I went with a safe TV, in the largest size I could get within the HDTV world. HHGreg had a sale for $799 so I scooped one up for my birthday last week. Tubes have the best picture and this is one of the best of the tubes. Considered the 34 inch 970 set, but from what I understand, it does not have Super Fine Pitch as it's namesake before it - the 960. The 36XS955 DOES have Super Fine Pitch and it is awesome. I highly recommend this set if you have kids and want to not worry about them possibly destroying your $3,000 plasma. My only con is the lmited size of the set, but folks - 36 inch set is really big once you get it home.
