    "Not sure what to do!"

by Terryana on March 29, 2005

Pros: Quiet, bright LCD-maybe too bright ...eye strain? Great features in a slim laptop.

Cons: Very poor speaker quality compared to other desktop relacements even after using Toshiba Virtual Sound to tune it. Resolution is less than HP zd 8080 could be sharper!

Summary: I have purchased both HP zd8080 and the Toshiba Qosmio to try to decide on which one to keep. The HP is a great computer but the noisy fan is a huge distraction when you are doing work in a quiet environment. Toshiba is a much more compact, well styled notebook with similar features that is quite quiet however......the speakers don't seem to handle the sound, even when I tuned them with the virtual sound utility! The brightness of the LCD is great but I wonder about eye strain from it being too bright and finally, side by side, the High Def LCD on the HP zd8080 is way more sharp and makes the Toshiba look fuzzy for sure! I wish Toshiba had invested a bit more in native resolution and also in the speakers. The Satellite P30 has better sound but not the amazing features of the Qosmio!

    Terryana,

I would try the Qosmio G20 first before you descide to pick which one you want. I have the G15, but I was angery after I purchased it that there was another model out there that offered more power, larger HD, faster DDR2 memory, better graphics card, etc. I am about 2 hours south of Niagra and I should have shopped around. Any ways I got a great deal on mine, but stil felt cheated.
