"Great Value, Great Features" on
Summary: I've owned this now for a year, and I have had absolutely no problems what-so-ever, and with three kids, this thing gets a workout, somethings on all day and night and never flinches. I don't even use all the features it has, their are so many, but it's nice to know they are there when I need them. Great for MP3's I've burned on my computer too.

"Superb DVD Player! (skipping?!)" on
Summary: I don't know what everybody is talking about...I've had this DVD player for about 4 months now and I've had zero problems with it. Its never skipped for no reason, I mean I've played a really dirty disk and it maybe skipped once, but other than that it's great! I would recommend this player to anybody looking for a DVD player especially a progresive scan one. I have an HDTV, surround sound, and this player compliements my expensive equipment very nicely. Great DVD player.

"Out for repair again" on
Summary: My Toshiba SD4700 just went to the shop for the second time in 6 months today. The last time it went down they had it for months. Now, I have only watched a few DVDs on it since then and it has the same malfunction that it had the last time. Worse yet, Toshiba is questioning the warranty.

"skips skips skips" on
Summary: I bought the later version ... SD5700 and I wish I would have read all this stuff about skipping. I paid a lot for mine, and it jumps, pauses and then refuses to play DVD's. I have no idea when it is going to happen. Sometimes it is okay, sometiems not. It's very embarassing when I have company watching a movie at my place on my Toshiba 61" TV and my bloody Toshiba DVD player skips and then stops playing. Seriously consider a different brand. I always thought Toshiba was one of the best. Not in this case!! Very depressing.

"Skips, freezes, jumps!!"" on
Summary: I'm have the same problems as tony Purchsed this player for it's pro scan capability and price. Picture quality is good, DVD-Audion is GREAT!! However, just about every other DVD I play skips, pauses, or jumps so much that it's un-viewable. I put the same DVD in another player I have an no problems. Tried cleaning, etc. If I had to do it all over again, I'd make another choice.
