"Great for apartment use"
5.0 starson by Nick_VAPros: small, easy to mount, solid build, easy horizontal or vertical use
Cons: none as of yet
Summary: I live in an apartment, third floor. Not a lot of trees blocking my line of site towards the broadcast towers, however there are some 15-story office buildings about 3/4 mile away. Mast mount is not necessarily required outdoors but is recommended...I'll probably just use a nail or screw outside and also some duct tape to mount the thing on my balcony.
I bought the ClearStream 1 as another trial in my search for the best alternative to cable television here in the DC area. So far the ClearStream 1 has performed the best and has also managed to withstand the hazards of living with me. This unit has some weight to it, compared to other indoor/outdoor antenna, so I am not afraid to mount it outside without a mast. Since it is all plastic I don't feel very compelled to ground the thing either. It is plastic but not a cheap build by any means.
I am 17 miles from the broadcast antenna of all major networks. The balcony and large window of my apartment both face east towards the antenna. Inside I can receive NBC & FOX at 65%, ABC(Baltimore) & CBS at 45%. Outside, things are 80-90 and I can receive ABC out of DC at 75% when I put the antenna closer to the rail (wooden balcony, including the rail).
