Pros It works, but painfully
Cons Too much handholding
Pros Easy, comprehensive. Some parts are confusing where they want you to average you housing interest rates. I didnt get the point.
Cons Liars. Use trickery to fool you and you wind up paying hidden fees. Terrible custoemr service...the worst.
Summary Fed e-filing is free, state is 19.99. Just before you state e-file, it comes up with this additional 29.99 fee ($50 for state e-filing!!!). You can't back out of it. Some users said clicked on no, and it still changed them. I emailed Turbo tax, they responded quickly and said it was just a hold. They were wrong. I was billed and they took the position to not respond. Even after 5 emails. I don't like it where merchants feel they just don't need to respond. I have seen the VP leave his comments, and he doesn?t really answer and is just a spin doctor. Own up to it, and admit that you were sneaky in designing the software this way. I will definitely not use them again. I am leaving my review on every site possible, especially since they are so arrogant and won't respond. I also sent out over 500 of my friends and relatives and email exposing them about this and have encourage them to send it along. That alone will make them lose over and above of what I loss.
Shame on you.

Pros Product work well
Cons in 08 Turbotax is now charging $9.95 for more than one return - if you have family returns, children's returns, this is a ripoff!
Summary Buy TaxCut for $10 less on the product, get one efile free and do as many printed returns as you want!
"Made $3000 error"on by sparrish88
Pros Uses last year's data to help start
Cons $3000 math error
Summary This program was my favorite. I have used it for 10 years. It pulls data from my previous year's report so I have to only update from year to year. This saves me hours of data entry. Also compares my income and deductions year to year. I used to be its biggest fan.
This year it adds two of my spouses home businesses (one is $6000 and one is $3000) to be $16000. Where does the extra $7000 come from? No one knows. This extra $7000 placed me in a higher tax bracket turning my $450 tax owed into $3500.
I called Customer service, which the TV commercials are using as a discrimiator between TaxCut and TurboTax. This CS person barely spke english and was very difficult to understand. After 54 minutes of "help" we could not find it. In fact I ended up telling him what entries went where on the forms because he kept getting lost. he aslo was impressed with my income level and startd asking what I did for a living and how he could get my job. He asle chatted with me about how he used to live near me, etc. "I don't care - fix my $3000 error adn I will chat with you all day - after."
In the end his advice was to uninstall the program and reinstall. Wow, what a big help. I did that and it did not fix the error. It became a $4000 error.
Turbo Tax - here I come.
Pros It may be improved ... but
Cons Are they still using offshore tech support? What about IRS audit support?
Summary I was a long time user of Turbo Tax and subscribed to their subscription for almost 8 years until ... I needed tech support and couldn't figure out why Turbo Tax would not allow me to use my American Express credit card to pay what I owed.
Found out that tech support was based offshore in the Phillippines!
The person at the other end had no clue what to do, so I had to figure it out for myself and spent half the night trying to figure this out along with help from American Express.
I have since cancelled my Turbo Tax subscription and specifically told the CRS that I do not want any literature emailed or mailed to my home. In October of last year, what do I get in my mailbox? A letter from Intuit and a Federal copy of Turbo Tax.
I'm switching over to Tax Cut which is written by tax professionals and the fact that Tax Cut (with limitations) will provide "human" audit defense in the event that my taxes are audited by the IRS.
Beats having a software box defending you against an audit.
