GOOD SOFTWARE FOR TAXESby Steve23t - March 27, 2005
Pros: Easy to setup, easy to use, the language was very easy to understand. Didn't have that TAX/ACCOUNTANT lingo to confuse you
Cons: don't think I found any cons and I am a first time user
Review:
Overall I was very satisfied with TURBOTAX. I popped in the cd-rom and it did not start out with usual rubbish but rather it went straight to asking for your information while it downloads. Very easy to use as it asks you questions and you just type in with it doing all the calculations. Langauage was very understandable nothing to throw off anyone. Even if there was something unclear you could just click on the side for get answer and it would explain in deeper detail.
DEFINTELY worth the money, beats going to H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt and spending $95.00 - $120.00 bucks

TurboTax Deluxe 2004 a disappointmentby LMITCHEL - March 27, 2005
Pros: Transfers prior-year data, easy interview style.
Cons: This year: downloading updates was a fiasco.
Review:
[Review of TT 2004 Deluxe, not Premier] This may be the last year I use TurboTax. I don't think my problems had anything to do with using "Deluxe" and not "Premier." I have been absolutely unable to download updated forms, and one (Form 6198) TT seems to think I must use, even though it does not apply to my case at all. I followed Intuit's directions, and uninstalled/reinstalled the software--- and now have lost my State download. Thank God, I had printed a copy of both returns, and will be filing that by mail, complete with "NOT FINAL FORM" printed several times through the offending form AND Schedule E. Come to think of it, I had problems with late-updates on forms last year.
And try to get some support! That is enough to drive one mad. The support form I filled out on this problem was rejected because I hadn't supplied a "topic." The pull-down list of support "topics" included ONLY "<Select a topic>"--- so their system rejected the request.

does not pay to be a consumerby ydavid - March 27, 2005
Pros: they used to be the best
Cons: now you can not trust them
Review:
I have been a loyal PURCHASER of TurboTax deluxe for 5 years. I have been doing the same type of taxes for 5 years. Every year like clockwork I would go out and buy TurboTax deluxe. To my surprise, I find out that I am no longer allowed to enter any employee stock plans (options or ESPP). I am furious because this used to be in the deluxe version, now you need to upgrade to the premium version. I will not be a prisoner to ?Get Less Pay More.? Soon the program is only going to be good for is typing in your name. Next year, I am switching!

Very Good Tax Programby scrmnwoody - March 22, 2005
Pros: Interview process makes things extremely straight forward.
Cons: When going "back", things tend to get a little messed up. Best just to go through it once.
Review:
I don't have the most difficult tax situations from year to year. But, I have been using Turbo Tax for several years now. And, I have loved it for it's easy of use and accuracy. I bought a home one year. I sold it a few years later. I was a traveling contract employee for a few years. None of these situations were a problem for Turbo Tax. I simply answered the interview questions and plugged away. In most cases, I did my taxes in less than an hour, filed them electronically, and had my return within a couple weeks. All because of Turbo Tax. Trust me. I am no tax guru.

Forced to Upgrade to Premier --- to get options available in Deluxe last yearby mlc465782 - March 19, 2005
Pros: Custom interviews help a lot ; ability to import last year's data
Cons: last year Employee Stock Sales were included as part of the Deluxe Package; this year I was forced to upgrade to be able to complete my return
Review:
I have used Turbo Tax for as long as it was available; but I believe next year I will try another tax package. The problem with the employee stock sales really was the icing on the cake. New and upgraded versions, should add function.. not reduce it. Also.. I had difficulty with some of the interviews this year so had to go back three and four times to make sure the info was correct. Intuit used to be the 'king of the hill' in my book.. no more based on Turbo Tax and Quicken's latest versions.

poor technical support, rebate gougingby bsurfn99 - March 9, 2005
Pros: user friendly questions
Cons: not everything works.
Review:
I am highly unlikely to purcase this product again. Rebates are a game to Intuit, they make sure they win. "Free e-filing costs $15 for fed, and $15 for state! (somewhere there's a rebate for at least the federal) I haven't found it. City taxes, are in the software but didn't work for my city, tech support sent me a new link, it didn't work. City taxes were done by hand in the end, TurboTax just couldn't handle them. I plan on looking at other filing options next year, turbotax would be one of them.

Very good productby msteey2k - February 25, 2005
Pros: Great with calculating costs effectively
Cons: No that I can think of...
Review:
I would never go back to another tax preparer, I love doing my own taxes in the privacy of my home, without all the long delays. Everything can be checked from my livingroom.
