"Worst of the worst" on by jdwinva

    Pros: Install works

    Cons: Full of Bugs !!!!

Summary: I am a LONG TIME user of Quicken (circa 1994) and was always on the bleeding edge of personal finance and electronic bill payment. I even worked at Intuit for 5 years (1997-2001).

WARNING: As of today 10-23-2007 this product is done. The Quicken team has made a mess of the product and it appears that the Quality Control folks were asleep or on vacation. I've never seen so many anoying bugs in any software product. I'm actually considering MS Money. In the meantime I'm converting back to Quicken 2006 which is stable and works.

"Will not print, on any printer checks or reports" on by attheHood

Pros: Updating all accounts at once.

Cons: Program will not print. Bad trait for software.

Summary: have spent countless hours and e-mails with Quicken support and cannot get this product to print from my new laptop. Think others are having similar problems. Have used quicken for 15 years. Worse I have seen.

"A waste of $65 and countless hours" on by ashyrigh

Pros: some features might be functional

    Cons: buggy, useless customer support

Summary: I bought this software only to track and analyze my household's very simple finances. Between my husband and I we the most advanced accounting maneuver required to track our finances was to set up our mortgage payment. Each mortgage payment is split 3 ways between 1) a transfer to an escrow account 2) a transfer to a liability account and 3) an interest payment. After setting up the accounts I spent a good deal of time entering the last few years of mortgage payments.

When at last I was done and all things balanced I began to mark the transactions as reconciled. This action caused transfers to duplicate in my liability account. After some research in Quicken's community forums I discovered that others have struggled with the same scenario. In fact it appears that a transfer recorded as a split will duplicate when the original transaction is edited. These duplicates cannot be deleted without first deleting the original transaction, then re-entering it.

So far support as been no help at all. They seem to be ignoring the bug and the people who are asking for help.

I was willing to ignore the nagging for additional pay services and upgrades. I was willing to tolerate a wonky flickering screen issue. Yet I'm not willing to spend time and effort carefully re-entering data into unreliable software with unhelpful support. Not only was this a waste of my money, but a huge time sink. I couldn't be more disappointed.

"Stock/Mutual Fund Updates Do Not Work" on by cnsjones

    Pros: Financial/Checkbook functions ok

Cons: Investors do not have update capability (January 2008)

Summary: Quicken support is almost non-exestent.

Investors that need to track their portfolio stock and mutual fund prices will be out of luck, because this updating function is very sporadic. As of January 25, 2008, the mutual fund updating will not work; last week was a disaster, as both stock prices and fund prices would not work for three days. Intuit support did not recognise that a problem exixted until the CEO Brad Snith was contacted. Then a short term fix was apparently implemented, but now the fix is apparently broken, as fund prices from Friday's close do not update, and yesterday, stock price updating was intermittant during the trading day.

Unsatisfactory for a $60 software package.

    "Garbage Software" on by Nontuit

    Pros: Zero. Nada.

Cons: Fails at most simple task of downloading investment accounts. Balances do not reconcile. Does it want me to enter cost basis for money market sweeps? Hours of wasted time on this NONTUIT garbage.

Summary: Bottom Line: A great software program for anyone wanting to easily download investment account information, then spend hours trying to understand the non-intuitive softwar, and then willing to manually reconcile each transaction and go back into the sofware to try to figure out how to correct it. A complete waste of time and money.
