"Solid product. Nice, incremental upgrade for 2008 User"

4 stars  | on by grouchycustomer

Pros

Streamlined interface. Agree that this is not an earth-shattering upgrade, but the product feels more polished in every way from 2008. My installation and upgrade process was smooth with 4 different data sets. Win7 platform.

Cons

Desktop icons inserted automatically by installation process. All are easily deleted, but I find that action offensive.

Summary

To those that argue this is a buggy release, note I waited for it to be out for a bit - Quicken always seems to need 60 to 90 days worth of real world testing to get it tuned properly. For me, so far so good. And with taxes around ... Read full review

To those that argue this is a buggy release, note I waited for it to be out for a bit - Quicken always seems to need 60 to 90 days worth of real world testing to get it tuned properly. For me, so far so good. And with taxes around the corner, I need 2010 to see my 2009 Schedule Report. Quicken 2008 would not show a 2009 Schedule D report. Probably an intentional "obsolesence" feature of 2008 to prompt an upgrade... Well, we all have to make a living.

"Acceptable but has bugs"

3 stars  | on by jakefryan

Pros

I have been using for a year now, after using Quickbooks for business for 10 years and Quicken for my home finances since 1997. . I like that I can have all accounts on one software. Tranfering funds is one click instead of two entries.

Cons

Job tracking is not as good, no inventory control, There are some bugs.

Summary

I have now been using it for the year of 2010 instead of Quickbooks. I like that I can transfer funds between accounts with one entry instead of two. It has good downloading and update features which makes keeping balances current easier. I have found a bug or design error that I would like to report. When making a deposit of several checks, after the check have been entered into the payments receved (accounts receivable), you must manually match the deposit, since you have no undeposited funds account. When you match the deposit manually with the multiple deposits, Quicken changes the accounts receiveable payee to the Bank Name. Now your invoice appear to be unpaid and show up as account receiveable again. I then must go back and correct each of the entries in accounts receivable to correct the error. I wish they would correct this.

"No Business For Quicken 2010 Home & Business"

It looks pretty.

Cannot customize invoices.
Cannot move transactions up and down in order to preserve order.

I bought this thinking my small business I do on the side would be able to use. WRONG! You can make custom invoices but only barely. You cannot add a lot of custom fields. Most fields already there cannot have their data container be displayed on the side of the title. For example, the Invoice # field shows the name and the data up and down and cannot be moved to be shown side by side. If you download transactions from your bank, you cannot move transactions up and down on the register to put them in the proper order in which they occurred. You cannot make sub-accounts to main accounts. If Quicken H&B 2010 could get rid of these limitations, I would happily use it.
