What a scamby burgessw - October 28, 2008
Pros: Before it cratered on me it was good at syncronizing with my banks, but that turned out to be a futile effort
Cons: A month after buying it it couldn't recognize it's own data file. Offered to let me buy an upgrade in order to open the file it created. What a scam to get people to buy the more expensive program.
Review:
Attempts for technical support have been fruitless. The links built into the program are broke as well. I should have stuck with Money.

DO NOT BUY FOR WINDOWS VISTAby kjdfijijekjio - September 5, 2008
Pros: It does a great job in tracking spending balances and rolling over balances to the next month that allows you to edit the amounts. Notifies you if a bill is due.
Cons: Customer service is terrible. They charge you for a phone call ( a way to avoid having to talk to you over the phone) Also, online update feature doesn't work well w/ Vista.
Review:
The customer service just looks at screen prompts to try helping you. I'm constantly having my chat sessions taken over to someone in India who doesn't have a clue on how to accurately troubleshoot. And what really upsets me, is that they ignore all your comments. The problem I'm having with this software is that there are too many bugs and not compatible with Vista. The box says it is, but it definitely isn't. The guys I talk to are like a broken record: they look at their screens and read to me in English what I'm supposed to do. When I tell them I've already done it, they ignore me and tell me to do it anyway. Then after both options they give me are done, they give me the last piece of advice, "You need to do a fresh reinstall" and then hang up. After that didn't work, it repeats all over again. That being said, I'm not trashing this product until I get the '09 version coming out. Yes...these agents aren't telling me what I already know which is that this product really doesn't work for VIsta, but that isn't stopping me from understanding that these bugs probably have been worked out for the -09 edition. What pisses me off is that they refused to even consider upgrading me for free knowing about this. I know I'm not the only person to have complained about this. I just bought a brand new dell computer...it's not the computer that's malfunctioning. It says on the other -08 versions that it's for XP, NOT Vista. I think they just added the word Vista to make more money. If there was another effective money financing software out there, believe me, I'd get it and give my business to someone else.

Quicken started out as an excellant accounting series. Unfortunately, Intuit has force repeated "upgrades" upon users which add very little useful functionality while cluttering it with cutsy features which waste time and space and make it less useful for actual accounting. If you are functioning well with an older version, don't change until absolutely forced to.

It's a good thing this was a freebee with my TurboTax. You have to read the "fine print" at the bottom of the box to see this Starter Edition will not convert previous Quicken versions. I did not bother to install it. Worthless.

The package stated that it would not import old Quicken files. This was fine with me; I'm not interested in reliving ancient history, but Intuit didn't tell me that it was going to corrupt my Quickbooks Pro 2006 program as well as my Quicken 2004 program and would not let me reinstall either of them. Now I have nothing...

Purchased (rebated) along with annual TurboTax purchase, thinking I should always pick up the latest Basic or equivalent version to keep my Quicken current. I've been using Quicken for >15 years. Got home, read BACK of the box, "Does NOT import existing Quicken Data"!! What a waste. Not even worth opening the box. I'll stay with my 2007 version - I suppose this'll become a standoff now between us Basic users and Intuit to see who will blink and buy "Deluxe" (or change to MS Money) first. Warning to Quicken beginners: Think about next year before buying - Quicken Deluxe will not be cheap.

I have never used a program such of this so the Starter Edition was perfect for me.
I am little nervous about abandoning my written checkbook, but I like the idea of this program doing the math for me.
I use the online service through my bank which is very nice. Pending items do not update into quicken until they clear my bank.
so far I have not had a problem with it.
I feel like once I get into it more, I will like it even more and wonder why I ever lived with out it. Gone are those old written check books!!!!

I too have 2007 Basic and still have problems with flashing screen. Tried this program. Had to start fron scratch as this version will not convert. Am not paying $50-$60 for Deluxe which has features I do not need. Keep getting Quicken server errors when trying to update online accounts. Have been a faithful Quicken user for many years. Will not buy Quicken again! MS Money, here I come!

With out a basic version I won't be buying Quicken again. Problems with Quicken 2007 were never fully addressed, bill minder does not work, flashing screen issues. I don't think it is fair to have to buy another years version to possibly correct these problems.
