Pros Easy to use interface.
Cons Incomplete interview process, unable to input tax credit that is a basic part of the 1040. You may not get all the $$ owed to you.
Summary Do not trust this product, it is incomplete. H&R Block knows it, but doesn’t disclose to the public that users can’t take basic tax credits due to the face that it lacks the forms required(maybe they’d lose sales if they did). The result is the interview process hides tax credits from the user.
I tried to use the online version of Premier TaxCut. The product did not know about a basic 1040 tax credit that is new this year; Residential Energy Credit. It’s line 52 of the 1040. I contacted support on 1/29 who lied to me that this would be available on 1/31. On 1/31 I was back in touch with support inquiring how I could enter my tax credit. This time they told me there was no way to enter it via the Premier web version, but maybe the pc ver. could. I called sales who told me I could take every deduction, but when I mentioned the specific tax credit they told me they try to cover the most popular forms, but do not include all that are required.
Fact: you may not get your maximum return using TaxCut.
Pros It was cheap
Cons You get what you pay for
Summary TaxCut installed a freeware version of PDF995 without consent. I already had a registered full version of PDF995 on my PC which had now reverted to the unregistered version. When I tried to reinstall PDF995, it was conveniently installed in the TaxCut directory - how nice! When I uninstalled PDF995, I received an error when attempting to uninstall TaxCut because - you guessed it - PDF995 was missing. I've used this program for 10 years and its usefulness has steadily declined.
Pros Attractive price
Cons Doesn't import Quicken and TurboTax cleanly
Summary I have used TurboTax for several years. For 2006, I was seduced by TaxCut's low price. However, although the program said it imported the previous year's TurboTax file, I still had to reenter every field. Then when it imported Quicken financial data, the data was garbled. I wound up with three separate Schedule C forms, all with different amounts. Finally bit the bullet and ponied up $90 for TurboTax.

Pros Easy to use
Cons No Customer Support
Summary I purchased this with the State Tax Cut. When I tried to download the state software I was advised that there wasn't one available for my state. I tried to get a refund for the state portion but I couldn't get through on the phone and my emails were never answered.
Pros Mac version available, Better support than Intuit
Cons Product not ready
Summary As of Feb 23 Mac version still incomplete. Program balky if you know taxes and don't want to follow interview. Form 8913 doen't work properly. Software won't run when installed in application folder, has to run from users folder and be installed by the account using it. Printing messes up. Progam doesn't display print dialog when printing record copy of tax returns, defaults to the filing copy settings.
Support prompt but inept, but still better than Intuit
