TurboTax Deluxe Deduction Maximizer 2006 (without State)

Pros: Usual nice UI

Cons: For help with reporting ESPP sales, you need Premier

Summary: I returned my product to Intuit for a refund. I have been a long time Turbo Tax customer, but I am going to try other options this year.

The main problem with this Deluxe version is it has no help for ESPP sales. Now this may or may not be the most important feature for some. But many companies (esp. Tech companies) offer an ESPP plan. The calculation of taxes related to ESPP sales are cumbersome (although not rocket science).

Till last year, Turbo Tax used to offer nice help for this. This year, it asks you to upgrade to Premier version for $30 more. If you don't want to, figure it out yourself.

The cost difference between Premier version and TaxCut is substantial. So, with regret, I have to stop using Turbo Tax. Intuit's record with charging more for same features is notorious. Quicken does the same thing to certain extent. So I have decided to register my protect by taking my business elsewhere.
