"Not Ready For Primetime"
Pros: Included Adapter Stand
Cons: Poor Reliability and BSODs
Summary: I purchased the wua2340 to replace my good old reliable Linksys usb (wusb54g) desktop adapter which I passed on to my daughter at college. It was a good opportunity as I had recently upgraded my old Netgear router to the Dlink RangeBooster wbr2310 and this adapter would leverage the 108Mbps capabilities. I immediately started experiencing the dreaded Windows XP blue-screen-of-death (BSOD), the text of which implicated the wua2340?s driver (a5agu.sys). I immediately located, downloaded and installed Dlink?s latest driver but unfortunately the condition continued. Dlink technical support advised me I had a defective adapter and directed me to exchange it for a new one.
I was skeptical as I had researched the problem on the internet searching on ?bsod? and a5agu.sys and found many other similar problems without resolution. Some related to a buffer-overflow security exploit in earlier driver versions, but supposedly fixed in later versions. So I played the game and tried a replacement and the problem remained. I returned the adapter for refund and am now trying the Netgear WG111T. No problems so far.
