    "great bluetooth antenna"

by havsumhope on July 30, 2006

Pros: incredible software; attractive design; good signal strength

    Cons: none so far

Summary: first off, i actually own this item and have used it for over a week (really used it).

i just bought a toshiba tablet pc (w/o bluetooth).

i installed the software for this in about 2 min, and within another min it was asking if I needed to connect any devices - so i said "yes" and it found my bluetooth mouse (logitech) and i installed that within about another minute.

bottom line, in less than 5 min, my tablet pc was bluetooth enabled and connected to my only bluetooth device - a logitech v270 mouse.

i had NO issues and NO crashes or conflicts with the software. of course, my PC is brand new and doesn't have loads of other drivers and crapware installed.

also, i did update my bluetooth stack off the toshiba website for my tablet pc, prior to installing the kensington device. for people experiencing issues (like the other poster on here, i'd recommend updating your pc's bluetooth stack from the manufacturer first - and using the windows bluetooth stack if your pc's manufacturer doesn't have their own version for download on the manufacturer's site - prior to blaming the bluetooth device for your pc crashing.

i have had and never had any issues with this kensington. it works wonderfully and has very good range.

i would also note that the software on this device is outstanding and worthy of being a "difference maker" for other like units in the same price range. kensington did this product right by putting together a great installer AND a software package to support the device itself.

i'd highly recommend this product. kensington made it possible for my laptop to be bluetooth enabled without any problems in less than 5 minutes.
    Updated
on this site, there is a picture of the device, but with a white cap for the bluetooth unit. my unit came in a plastic formed shell with the unit without a white cap on it. there was no cap on the inside of the package. just want you to understand that in real life (or with my unit) there was no cap for the usb bluetooth antenna, as pictured in this marketing material on the site.
