Summary Tried Ver. 1 with poor range. Upgraded to ver. 3 and I get better than 50% signal strength and quality anywhere in my three story house. AP is in basement. Even works fair outside.
Pros relatively inexpensive. OK - when it works
Cons product inconsistent, cuts out w/o warning. Repeated attempts to contact customer service complete failure.
Summary I've been trying for nearly three weeks now to contact customer service - via phone, nothing but recordings no matter what time I call. Via online chat- worked for a while then it cut out. I relogged in, of course got a different person, was starting over w/ my problem and then got a message that they were experiencing trouble with their on-line chat and would sign off now - gone. And via email? Well, they did respond to my first email with a list of instructions that got me right to the point I had already gotten set up, told me to email them if what they told me didn't work (it was like they didn't even read my email). I've been emailing them daily for over a week now, and all I've gotten is an email from them saying that since they hadn't heard from me in over 120 hours, they were assuming my problem was fixed. They deserve 90 days for nonsupport!
Pros good range easy setup in win xp
Cons poor tech support 2.4ghz cordless phones may interfer
Summary I found this device to be good once I got it up and running (no help from linksys) with the windows zero config software it picks up my perfered networks and connect with no interaction needed from me. I use it in at least 8 places with wi-fi and have not had an issue yet I would suggest this card to anyone that was looking to buy a pcmcia wireless card
Pros I have installed on win98, win 2000, XP Pro, XP Home and SuSE Linux 9.1 personal edition. Minimal problems, over all very good value and easy install.
Cons Support from Linksys is substandard, seems the call takers have NO it training, just reading from a book.
Pros I've used this card on laptops from a 486 to a 2.4g and all I do is get the correct OS drivers and it works every time.
Cons Limited on distance for connecting.
