"Free High Speed Internet."
Pros: I'm always on... Even when sleeping.
Cons: 3 weeks in... None so far.
Summary: Had two people arrive at my house with laptops... Later came to find they were picking up an internet connection. Being jealous and forkin' out $65/mo with comcast... I decided to make this simple purchase and push my luck for a connection.
Ordered from newegg.com, arrived promptly. Had it hooked up within a minute... And sure enough it's picking up a signal from some where in my neighborhood!!?!! I'm in the basement as well on a desktop. My signal strength is LOW, but I stream between 1mbps and up to the full 54mbps. Even low speed is as fast as my comcast wired modem, so I'm not complaining.
It did hop signals at first... But I download the firmware update and I was instantly connected at a safe 6mbps-18mbps.
It comes with a 4-5ft USB extension cable... So I ran the wire up behind the desk and far up the wall as possible.
Simple, effective, reliable... And FREE internet.

Forget for a second that this guy has no morals. Now he's bragging on one of the most popular sites on the Internet about a crime that the FBI is arresting people for. Brilliant.

i think if you dont secure the connection then you dont mind if people are using your internet service, unless they dont know how to secure it.

You've borrowed something from your neighbor before, and they've borrowed something from you. If it isn't malicious your engaging in what's the harm? I keep my wireless router WEP enabled but many of my neighbors don't - that's their choice. My opinion is that isn't stealing if a signal is invading my home through the air, I should be able to connect to it if there are no safegards that prevent me from doing it. It's almost like a cb radio signal, I am grabbing it out of the air with a reciever.

What you're doing sounds great but it is illegal.

Do you get free newspapers from your neighbors mailbox also?
