"BEWARE! Doesn't Work with All Laptops!"
Pros: Fast, decent price, nice concept I guess.
Cons: Uh, Won't work with Dell or Alienware Laptops
Summary: Beware if you are interested in this card. I just purchased both this card and the pre-n router and installation of the card continually froze my computer (when card inserted) - Called belkin, they tell me it won't work with my Alienware Laptop or a bunch of Dell laptops - What the? Now I have to return these pre-n products and go "G" - ugg.... nice concept, if it works with your computer - don't go through the hassle I went through.....

I was quite alarmed when I read the reviews here, but I must allay some of those fears at least. I had already bought the pre-n router, so I obviously wanted the matching PCMCIA card, but not, again obviously, if it didn't work with my laptop.
I risked testing one of the cards in my laptop, a Dell Latitude D600 and it has worked absolutely perfectly. No bluescreen, no crashing, nothing, just top-of-the-range wireless as advertised by Belkin.
I took the advice from some others online, in that I downloaded the very latest drivers from the Belkin site and installed them before even inserting the card into my laptop. Since then, I've had absolutely no problem.
Don't take what's been said as Gospel, see if you can test the card to see if it will work on your laptop. -
Pre N router rocks!
The notebook card or PCI version not so much.
Did not work with my toshiba laptop (new)
and preformed poorly with my new dell desktop.
I pair Lynksis SRX notebook card with belkin router. -
I have a Belkin pre-n router that works well with the F5D8010 that was sold together as a package from Costco. I bought another F5D8010 card for different computer and it won't work, including on the computer that has a working F5D8010! A replacement from Belkin also doesn't work. This is goofy. Belkin clearly has some quality control issues to address.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A PRE-N WIRELESS ROUTER AND PRE-N WIRELESS NETWORK CARD MANUFACTURED BY YOUR COMPANY. NO WHERE ON YOUR WEBSITE, NOR ON THE ITEMS I BOUGHT,
DOES IT SAY THAT YOUR NETWORK CARDS DO NOT WORK WITH ALL COMPUTERS. FOR EXAMPLE ALIENWARE OR MOST DELL COMPUTERS, I HAPPEN TO BE USING ALIENWARE. I DRIVE ACROSS TOWN TO PURCHASE YOUR PRODUCTS FROM A RETAIL
STORE. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I INSTALLED THE ROUTER WITH NO PROBLEM, HOWEVER, WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO INSTALL THE NETWORK CARD IT WOULD NOT INSTALL CORRECTLY AND AVERSELY AFFECTED MY COMPUTER. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO
CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND GET MY COMPUTER FUNCTIONING AT 100% THEN I PHONED YOUR TECH. SUPPORT. THEY WERE NO HELP AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A NETWORK CARD
ERROR. THEY EXPLAINED THAT I SHOULD RETURN TO THE STORE AND EXCHANGE THE NETWORK CARD FOR A NEW BELKIN CARD. AFTER DRIVING ACROSS TOWN, ONCE MORE, I EXCHANGED THE BELKIN CARD FOR THE EXACT SAME CARD.
AFTER RETURNING HOME AND ATTEMPTING TO REINSTALL THE CARD, I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME SITUATION. ONCE AGAIN I PHONED YOUR TECH. SUPPORT CENTER. WHILE TIRING TO KILL THE TIME, WAITING ON MY CALL TO BE ANSWERED
(FOREVER) I FOUND INFORMATION ON YOUR PRODUCT ON CNET.COM THAT EXPLAINED WHY MY NETWORK CARD WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. ONCE MY CALL WAS ANSWERED AND THE YOUNG LADY WENT THROUGH THE NOTES FROM MY PREVIOUS CALL, I
ASKED IF WHAT I READ ON CNET.COM WAS TRUE. SHE EXPLAINED THAT THE BELKIN CARDS WERE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ALL COMPUTERS AND IF THE SECOND CARD WAS NOT INSTALLING, THEN CARD WAS MORE THEN LIKELY NOT COMPATIBLE. WHAT THIS TELLS ME IS THAT YOUR COMPANY
KNOWS THAT THE PRODUCTS THEY ARE PUTTING ON THE MARKET ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ALL COMPUTERS SYSTEMS, YET YOU
DO NOT CARE TO TELL YOUR CUSTOMERS, NOR PUBLISH THIS INFORMATION. YOU ALLOW YOUR CUSTOMERS TO WAIST THEIR TIME AND MONEY PURCHASING PRODUCTS FOR THE COMPUTERS
THAT ARE AS USEFUL AS THE PLASTIC SACKS THEY CAME IN. I WILL BE RETURNING THE BELKIN NETWORK CARD ONCE MORE TO THE RETAILER ALONG WITH THE ROUTER (THAT IS
FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY). I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANYMORE BELKIN PRODUCTS AND WILL EXPLAIN TO THE MAJOR RETAILER EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, TO ALLOW THEIR EMPLOYEES THE OPPORTUNITY TO STOP PEOPLE FROM
PURCHASING BELKIN PRODUCTS THAT WILL NOT WORK ON THEIR SYSTEMS. I AM ALSO GOING TO BE POSTING THIS LETTER ON CNET.COM WITH THE OTHER PERSON?S LETTER THAT GOT SHAFTED AND HOPEFULLY ENOUGH PEOPLE WHO ARE CONSIDERING YOUR PRODUCTS WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE POSSIBLY WASTING THEIR TIME ALSO!
