"Great sound, poor construction"
on by mrcnokcPros Good price; great sound; ability to connect several components; remote control
Cons Volume goes up and down on its own. Remote control is very, very hard to read (very small font). Operation manual poorly written.
Summary My PT600A arrived with a broken foot, but it initially sounded excellent, so the defective foot was just a distraction. Over the past 6 weeks, however, the unit's volume goes up and down on its own, and the remote does not work, even with fresh batteries. The operation manual is not well written. In addition to the standard RCA inputs, the unit has something called "pin-plug" input, but no explanation of how that works, or what accessories (tuner, CD, etc.) it would control. The remote is solid black, with a very light gray, very, very small font that is almost impossible to read. I'm returning the unit for repair, and we'll see if most of these problems can be fixed. Summary: great sound, but poorly constructed.
