"Check out Trend Micro Internet Security"
Pros: hmm.. nothing spectacular really
Cons: resource hog, slow file scanning, same old interface, did I mention resouce hog?
Summary: I used to be a big McAfee fan, that is until I found and started using Trend Micro Internet Security 2004.
McAfee ViruScan is not really a bad product. It does what it is supposed to do, scan, detect and clean viruses. The only problem is, it takes its own time doing it. It also uses up a lot of your computer resources.
In my opinion Trend Micro's Internet Security product (I'm using 2005 now), is probably as effective in scanning, detecting and cleaning viruses if not more than McAfee's. It also comes with E-mail, Spyware and network protection. It also scans much faster, and does not use up as much resources as McAfee or Norton products.
Trend Micro's updates are done much more regularly than McAfee or Norton, reducing the possibility of viral infection before the system is patched with the latest update. And that also means that you are downloading smaller (quicker to download over 56k) chunks of updates, rather than all 3MB worth of download in one go.
In summary, McAfee VirusScan does it's job, albeit slowly and taking heaps of system resources. I'd go with Trend Micro Internet Security.
