"Simply awful"
Pros: Management console is fairly easy to use
Cons: Ineffective at preventing or cleaning viruses, high memory usage
Summary: Have had this for a year and am not at all impressed. While the central management features are nice, SEP is terrible at what is supposed to be its main feature: preventing and removing viruses. Even relatively old threats like Vundo have had a field day against my systems, and SEP can do nothing to keep them off or remove them once they're on. In some cases I have even found SEP completely disabled by the virus. My standard procedure now is to clean viruses off by installing Avast. It seems to handle just about anything I throw at it.
In addition, all of SEP's various processes (LiveUpdate, the virus scan process, and the GUI) can consume up to 100MB of virtual memory. On older systems that still have 512MB of RAM, this really hurts performance even more than it already was.
