  • "Extremely difficult to renew; impossible to contact"
    on by zoltarsniper

Pros The virus coverage and firewall of the product are serviceable.

Cons Tried to renew after the 1 year license expired, paid my fee, and the product did not automatically renew as promised. Tried to contact them, found they had no customer service options that would not cost me more money.

Summary The company took money for a renewal that they did not provide, then wanted more money to talk to someone who could provide the renewal I had already paid for.

  • "CAUTION!!!"
    on by fantumx

Pros THERE IS NOTHING TO LIKE. After purchase and installation problems started. I worked with on-line tech support for 2 weeks and finally ended up with a tech on the phone and DESTROYED an XP and a Server 2003 following his instructions.

Cons After the tech helped destroyed my 2 computers he said he would have an "engineer" call... never happened! Trying to get the software to work took over 30 days and when I got fed up they refused a refund on that basis.

Summary BE VERY CAREFUL WITH TREND MICRO! After all the above problems they refused a refund (over 30 days), this was over a year ago, NOW THEY ARE FRAUDULENTLY CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD FOR RENEWAL OF SERVICE ON BOTH COMPUTERS!

Try ESET, we now have it installed on 4 XPs and 4 Servers, very easy and IT WORKS!

  • "Too Unreliable: Randomly closes down in the background."
    on by Lexasdel

    Pros Small, Efficient, Looks Nice

Cons Randomly Closes with no warning. For this reason alone i abandoned the product.

Summary As i keep saying: it randomly shuts itself down with no warning. Obviously this is not good enough for Internet Security.

  • "Not enough updates, still get viruses"
    on by jdavidtz

    Pros Easy to install

Cons Not up to date on the latest viruses
Only contains viruses, rather then delete or prevent them.
Annoying pop ups with no way to turn off
    Slows my internet dramatically
    WAIST OF MONEY

Summary I bought Trend Micro after recieving a trojan virus (SYSTEM23 virus). It contained the virus, but was not able to delete it. It kept sending "pop ups" warning me of the same virus, with no way to turn the warnings off!!!! annoying

Then i finally cleaned out my entire harddrive (delete and reinstall windows and Trend Micro)
Got the LSASS.exe virus 2 weeks later. And then a "SYSTEM.exe" trojan virus. Really?
This is just from surfing the web, not downloading anything.
It has been about a month of annoying pop ups to "allow" or "block" these, but it has gotten out of hand (about 20-30 popups in 2 hours) There have been NO updates or fixes for these viruses which are some of the most well known and treatable viresus by other anti virus software (like Norton)
Trend Micro has bad team of developers who are just plain too BEHIND the fraudsters. Pick it up guys!! I feel i waisted my money on your product and will continue to tell everyone i knnow that it SUCKS!

  • "Install this on your PC and you will regret it."
    on by kersti17

Pros I can't tell if it is finding anything so it is just hogging my CPU. Better to purchase software that can be tested independently and that you can be sure is doing something useful other than telling your subscription will expire in a few months.

Cons This is the most annoying software you will ever pay for. Very difficult to uninstall. A significant amount of time is spent installing updates which are frequent.

Summary When it scans or updates, you might as well take a long break and do something else. When it starts to scan or update, most other programs will crash because it will consume all internet bandwidth and just about all CPU capacity. Takes a while to find the settings to control when it scans. If you don't customize the scan settings, you stand to lose your work because it will just shut off you web browser, MS-Office programs lock-up and you can't pause the scan. Just try to remove the software before your subscription expires, I bet you can't do it without direct customer support intervention. Once it has expired, you can't do anything to change or stop it. Consider yourself forewarned.
