"A well thought-out, designed thermostat"
5.0 starson by ahypnoz1Pros: The Nest Wifi access service is Free!
Cons: Nest does not work with the more advanced air conditioners, Specifically, The two stage air conditioners that can switch from a 3 ton to 5 ton based on demand.
Nest does work for the two stage heating furnacesSummary: Nest did to thermostats what the iPhone did to smart phone market. Advance the whole technology 3-4 generations past anything else that is out there.
Free Wifi access, unlike other Wifi home gadgets that make you buy a subscription service, like the Link
$8.99 Monthly Subscription for Schlage LiNK locks. The Wifi access is free for the life of the product. Or the Craftsman Assure link that charges $20 a year. These old school companies do not get it, when you buy a device like the Nest, the Wifi service should be free.
For older people the Nest is very easy to read the large back lit numbers that turn on automatically with the proximity sensor as you approach the thermostat. The Nest then turns the back lit light automatically off when you walk away. If you go on vacation, It will detect if you are not around and automatically go into energy saving vacation mode all by itself.
I use my iPhone as an alarm clock so it is right by my bed at night. Every once in a while I will wake up in the middle of the night, either being too hot or cold. It is so marvelous that I can change the thermostat from my iphone so that I can go back to sleep. Zzzzzzzzz
