  • "Major technical flaw had to return unit. Power share!"

    Pros: Looks, WiFi, Apps, Reporting

Cons: Uses power from thermostat wires to recharge battery - could not start outside unit. This caused a capacitor to go out and $200 AC repair. The inside unit would cycle on and off then Nest would enter "Delay" mode. RETURNED

Summary: Because the Nest uses a rechargeable battery it will draw power from the low voltage thermostat wires. This causes problems when needing to kick start a relay on the outside unit. My outside unit would not start until the Nest was fully charged. This process would repeat every time I touched/used/read data on the Nest because once again the battery recharge would draw too much power from the thermostat wires.
