"Limited functionality without .Mac subscription"
Pros: Excellent, intuitive software
Cons: Some essential features only work with a .Mac subscription
Summary: I have a love/hate relationship with the iLife suite. The individual apps are fantastic and allow the novice to generate impressive creative output. But every now and then, I find that Apple has disabled some important feature (eg, letting users post comments on your iWeb blog) for no apparent reason except to force users to pay $100 a year for a .Mac subscription that most people will have no other need for. With record profits from iPod and computer sales, is it really necessary to resort to these tactics?

I totally agree, Apple makes record profits from iPod and even its sales of desktop/laptop computers. There is really no reason for Apple to make a stupid $100/year subscription fee to use .mac
other than that Apple is great!
