Reason is one of the best beat making programs out there. There's nothing you can't do with this program. I'm new at producing, but after a few months of using reason I could put a pretty decent beat together and feel good about it. The redrum computer is very nice and allows you sequence your own drum beats without having to rely soley on pre made loops. The only knock on reason is that it doesn't give you any recording capability to completely make a track, it's solely a beat production program. That good thing is you can make a beat in reason and paste into programs such as garage band to record your vocals. If you are looking to produce and get your feet wet in that area, reason is the program that will give you the confidence and tools to make those beats you have locked inside your brain.
