"Nice Overall, Despite Poor Pre's"
Pros: Buttons and faders are acceptable, though nothing special.
16 of the buttons have LED back lighting.
Works well with both of my software packages; Virtual DJ 6 and Traktor 1.1.2.Cons: The pre-amps are low qualilty. I carry an outboard phono pre if I want to hookup one of my Technics 1210 M5G's. I also carry an outboard mic pre. Hercules needs to improve this area of the product.
Summary: Overall this unit has been very dependable and is built well for the price point. I use it at a weekly bar gig and as a redundant controller at larger events. The size and weight are just right. The included case is handy, especially if you keep the foam packing for extra protection.
I'm not a big fan of the Hercules jog wheels either.
I wouldn't plan on using the phono inputs though. For digital vinyl, I use my Mackie d.2 Pro or NI's Audo 4DJ. Also, if you will be doing much talking over a mic I would bring another mixer or a seperate preamp. In such situations, I generally team the RMX up with a Denon DN-X500 and DN-HD2500. This provides redundancy while also giving plenty of flexibility.
My wish list:
Better pre-amps all around
Flatter and slightly wider jog wheels
Indents on pots
Optical x-fader like the Mackie d.2 :)
