"Good Sound, Terrible Ergonomics" on
Pros: For a small stereo, it does sound good. It won't make your ears bleed, but it gets plenty loud and I'm surprised that there is actually some bass form the tiny speakers! Overall, the system looks good, which is probably why I was suckered into buying it.
Cons: If you define "ergonimics" as the ability for a human to efficiently interact with a machine, this thing fails miserably. As mentioned above, you won't likely be able to figure-out how to operate this stereo w/o the manual. The remote makes little sense

"Sounds awesome" on
Pros: Very crisp highs and hits the lows okay for the speaker size.
Cons: I'm good with electronics and it took me 2 hours to figure out all the timers/alarms, station sets, naming and all. Should really include a battery back up, everything wiped out in a power surge.

"USB is the clincher" on
Summary: I bought this system for my dorm room for $200 because I ruined my computer's sound-out port (long story). The quality of the USB sound makes me wonder how I could even survive with the 1/8" sound that I was getting through my comp speakers beforehand -- a good buy, I definitely recommend.

"Excellent with 1 drawback" on
Summary: I read all the reviews and bought one. This thing is great. Easy to hook up even the USB/pc, and works with my musicmatch 7.5 with no problems. The one concern is radio reception, which is barely adequate. I get 2 of 3 stations i really enjoy here in NYC. My USB works so well though, that i'm now going to find my stations online and just stream them in!

"Great sound, but can't handle too much bass." on
Summary: The DW-S500 is a great system, but overall, it lacks sound options. There are only 3 PRESET modes of tuning and the supplied speakers just don't give bass too well when the volume goes up to use level. There is also a lack of power, since it only puts out a meager 19 total watts (9.5 per channel). With a sub and a home computer in the same room it is an awesome deal though, at only $200 you can't go wrong!
