"Its fine, but it doesn't do High Def DVD players"
Pros: Connects Up Convert DVD Players very well
Cons: Doesn't pass Sharp Blu-Ray, Toshiba HD-DVD signals thru Onkyo 604 receiver
Summary: Bought this on line thru Amazon. Got it home, set it up, connected my Sharp Blu-ray and Toshiba HD-DVD players and my Onkyo Up-Convert DVD player thru my Onkyo 604 A/V Receiver (2 HDMI input) and nothing., Nada, not one of the components passed signals thru to my Samsung 1080i DLP, 50inch unit.
Next, contacted the seller and he responds with this, Blu-ray can only be connected to ports 4 and 5, firmware upgrades will solve the problem if your screen is black, you need 1.3 HDMI cables. Well I installed the firmware upgrades for the Blu_ray and HD-DVD units, I have 1.3 HDMI cables, so that wasn't the problem, both units work fine if connected directly to the receiver, so the units are ok, guess what. I still have a black screen with the HD-DVD unit, but now the Blu-Ray gives me a green screen and no picture. My Up-Convert DVD player does work thru this switch, but what good is this when I bought it to connect all 3 units thru to my A/V Unit. Until the "compatibility" issues mentioned in CNET's review of all these switches is addressed I would advise against wasting your time, money, and energy on any of these switches.
