"Seldom connects and rude customer support."
on by mponcnetPros When i could get it to work the picture was fantastic.
Cons I spent as much time loading different drivers as I did watching the thing.
Summary After several months of struggling, I made a mistake while trying to get it to run and had to do a system restore. When it came time for the last set of help I needed to get from Net Gear I got a customer support rep that told me to buy another of their products that had been discontinued and replaced by the one i currently own. (Really?)
I got banned from chat after this conversation verbatim.

"Worked perfectly, update prompt came up immediately"
on by pcklinePros I have an HD screen on my laptop that I thought looked pretty good when watching videos I had taken with an HD Canon Vixia, looked extremely better on my Bravia. I am running it through a receiver and still have no problem with 1080P and 5.1 audio.
Cons Maybe price, but Amazon just dropped it to $87 USD
Summary Straight utility, used to leave my laptop in the entertainment center connected with an HDMI and controlled with a wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard; bought an Asus with WiDi, hooked up the PTV2000 through a receiver and there is no picture quality loss between the previous laptop that was wired and the PTV2000 thats wireless. Small item, fits anywhere in an entertainment center. Couldn't be easier.

"Software did not install."
on by shellcorePros found none
Cons wasted time on what I was told to be incompatability.
Summary Spent several hours trying to download software on my new Dell laptop (i7 8GB RAM, 750 GB, Windows 7) using IE. Tried to work with Netgear's customer support, in the end they said I needed to contact Dell. They may have been right but instead I returned the PTV2000 and bought a 12 ft HDMI cable.

"Does not do what it claims."
on by AXGPros None that I can think of.
Cons Cannot play back rental Blu-ray and DVD discs because of copyright. Although the documentation says that it can be done with firmware update, when I tried to update firmware, the update failed. I tried 7 or 8 times using different methods, even restored t
Summary What is the use of HDTV adapter when it cannot be used for play back of rental discs? I returned the adapter.

"Does what it's supposed to do right out of the box!"
on by mcadventuresPros Works just as it's supposed to; great picture & sound quality; setup was a breeze, no problems whatsoever; even came with it's own HDMI cable.
Cons None so far
Summary Waited for the 2000 to come out for the HD and HDMI connectivity. I was impressed that a HDMI cable came with it. Worked for me right out of the box with my Dell XPS with an i5 processor.
