  • "Finally a simple way to watch my videos on my HDTV"
    on by Robt_L

Pros Simple to install. must use a video player software (vlc player is free) Plays anything that you can see on your computer screen... in so many words it turns your HDTV into a HD Computer monitor

Cons the signal doesn't go more than 25' It will go through the wall a short distance (15' or so depending on the wall material) It you have a Netbook you won't be able to use it for anything else while your watching your video.

Summary I download a LOT of movies. Unfortunately I had to convert some of them to a format that my Directv Media Share" or my WDTV would be able to stream or play to my 73" HDTV. Now, I don't have to convert/transpose my downloaded media. I play them with VLC Media player, which plays just about any format that you can thorough at it . I play them on my laptop an with the Veebeam HD I can stream what I see on my computer screen to my HDTV and It looks as good. Blue-ray avi's or vobs or any format look and sound great on the TV. and the sound comes through my audio sys.

  • "Forget about it"
    on by krakeltx

    Pros easy to set up

Cons There is a delay between what's on screen and laptop so not usable for surfing. Also, if you interrupt the line of site at all it disconnects

Summary The product is not really usable as advertised. The set up went flawlessly and was the best part of the experience. First, if you use this as a laptop extender there is a huge delay between what is up on the screen and what's on your laptop making it unusable for browsing. The other major issue is that if you interrupt the "line of site" at all it disconnects...you just can't walk between the laptop and the receiver and expect it to work. There are a number of these type devices on the market and i should have looked at reviews on other sites (which clearly point out these issues).

  • "Not a wireless solution"
    on by howellgr

Pros Software is easy to install

Cons Distance is limited to one room and Veebeam recommends not more than 5 meters (roughly 15ft). I could not establish a connection in direct line of sight over 10 feet.
Is not stable drops in and out

Summary For this short distance a cable works better.

  • "Easiest way to put computer content on the big screen!"
    on by robbyhead

Pros Software installation and setup very easy ... Passed my "setup without looking at the manual" test! ... sends video, audio, pictures & slideshows, Google & Bing maps with various views, Power Point, anything ... one unit works with multiple comput

Cons The USB dongle seems a little flimsy. (but it is a 1st generation unit)

Summary I may want to update this when I've tried it on other TV's with different connections. I can't complain about anything so far. My laptop is way under the specs that VeeBeam set as minimums and it still works well. HD Video is sometimes not as smooth as I would like (1080 & 720) on my laptop but the same content plays perfectly on my wife's which is still a little short of the minimums. One of my friends came to my house over the holidays who has purchased several of the recently released set top boxes and said that he probably would have been satisfied with just the VeeBeam. I'd still like to compare the experience with using a media center PC which I don't have. For now, I'd call this the current "quick & dirty" way to put what's on the computer you already have on your TV. At the very least, your friends will think you're cool!

  • "Yes, it really does stream your Mac or PC, and well!"
    on by notacapulet

Pros Works consistently well from anywhere in the room. 1080p video streams smoothly - no jerky movement, no audio sync issues, beautiful picture! Audio is clear - no breaks or artifacts. Sounds as if it were connected by wire.

Cons Product is clearly a first generation - updating firmware is very unpolished. Line of sight - generally, I have only broken line of sight by cupping the USB stick with my hand.

Summary This product streams HD video and 5.1 surround wirelessly from your PC or Mac to your home theater system - and it does so very well. The Veebeam company is small, but their passion and support has been incredible. I purchased both the Apple TV (2G, aka the black one) and the Veebeam, to compare my experience. I have returned the Apple TV as my Veebeam experience was far superior - I need my HULU streaming! Also, I use the product to play music from it iTunes collection on my Yamaha receiver without the TV sometimes - so much utility in this product.

You will not be disappointed - I consider myself a tough critic, and I'm pleased. Purchase and enjoy!
