Quick Take: So-called jam bands (think: Grateful Dead, Blues Traveler, and so on) have long embraced the distribution of live recordings, and LiveDownloads is one place on the Web where you can now buy said recordings. Unfortunately, the site has only 19 bands in its catalog, and a huge percentage of the recordings are from one group: the String Cheese Incident. If you're a fan of jam bands--and the String Cheese Incident in particular--you'll be pleased to find that LiveDownloads sells songs from its limited catalog in both MP3 and FLAC (the latter is a perfect-sounding lossless codec).

Don't forget about their related site!

Pros: Free podcasts, streaming radio

Cons: The podcasts are only monthly

Review: LiveDownloads.com is associated with nugs.net, which provides an excellent month podcast, streaming radio, and streaming shows for many, many artists.

If you're familiar with the jamband "scene" (for lack of a better word) and know about the festival circuit as well, you'll love nugs.net.

Good Quality, easy access

Pros: Sound quality of recordings, Price, Easy Access, good download speed

Cons: no cons that i can think of

Review: I've used LiveDownloads for Umphrey's McGee concert recordings, about eight CDs worth of tunes. The website is easy to use, downloads are pretty fast (using a DSL connection) and the price is reasonable.
