"PS3 Warranty Voided?" on by cchung1263

    Pros: none considering impacts.

    Cons: Voids out Sony warranty

Summary: Buyer beware. Sony indciates that Monster Cables are not approved or licensed by Sony which voids out their warranty. So if you have problems liked I had with sound, Sony will not honor warranty.

Here is section of warranty at http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/PS3/Warranties:

THIS WARRANTY SHALL ALSO BE VOIDABLE BY SCEA IF (1) SCEA REASONABLY BELIEVES THAT THE PS3TM SYSTEM HAS BEEN USED IN A MANNER THAT WOULD VIOLATE THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF A SEPARATE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR SYSTEM SOFTWARE; OR (2) THE PRODUCT IS USED WITH PRODUCTS NOT SOLD OR LICENSED BY SCEA (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, NON-LICENSED GAME ENHANCEMENT DEVICES, CONTROLLERS, ADAPTORS AND POWER SUPPLY DEVICES).

I think that the Sony position is ridiculus considering that Monster Cable is essentially a good product, but if it results in voiding out warranty, it's not worth it purchasing at any price. VERIFY before buying.
